THE WORD FOR TODAY – PRAYER OF TRUST IN GOD – PSALM 56
Lord thank you for your mercies new each day!
Thank you for Your second by second guidance: Your word at Homer’s yesterday, John 5 – the man Jesus asks if he wants to be healed; playing with young children and their tiny horses (it was fun, I hadn’t played with farm animals for 45 years); sharing Your work in my life; being obedient to give iPhone 6 to our daughter, Natalie, replacing mine; asking brother Byron to forgive my sins so we may be reconciled, before my prayers with you. Each day is packed with excitement of seeing You work in me, and seeing how You ‘cause me to walk in your ways“.
When I pray to I start off with the specific concern, then I remember Your promises in The Word, then, I hear assurance, or asking myself a direct question like David says in two of these:
“What can a mere human being do to me?”
Then in the last section, David is offering thanksgiving.
I love the last sentence (GNT):
“And so I walk in the presence of God, in the light that shines on the living.”
I love that, reinforces that God is LIGHT, and God SHINES on the LIVING
Leads my thoughts right back to John 8:12, 9:5, 12:46, Matthew 5:14
