Psalm 103 – notice v18 “commandments to DO them” and v20 “DO His word” and v21 “Bless those who DO His pleasure”
V41 “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit is indeed willing but the flesh is weak. 42….. YOUR will be done”
So we see that we DO by following His commandments, DO His Word, DO His good pleasure.
It’s God’s will that we are OBEDIENT and obey and do HIS commands, not the whiny carnal mind, not old dead man mind that nags us constantly, no we see through by faith (and not feeling) to God’s declarations and promises about our true nature, that Christ lives in us as us.
the mystery that was hidden for ages and generations but is now revealed TO HIS SAINTS, to whom God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory
Finally let’s remember James encouragement to be doers of the word not just hearers.
In closing I want to leave you with a movie suggestion that helps us all see the consequences of continuing in disobedience, because I was deceived, prior to God’s wake up call in 2015.
Last week I watched the movie The Last Temptation of Christ. It’s a fictional account directed by Martin Scorsese in an adaptation of Nikos Kazantzaki’s novel of the same name. It tells of Jesus life from his doubt hearing God’s voice being led to proceed with his mission and purpose, up through his crucificion when tempted not to go ahead with God’s plan for mankind, ignoring God’s will and his own living a comfortable life as a man.
Lord, I pray that all who read and meditate upon your words above are drawn to You, and become doers of your word, not just hearers as I was until you woke me up. Amen.
