And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
I heard someone the other day mention that the Kingdom of Heaven is like a piece of popcorn. That the inside must come to the outside and that ‘true’ life is always worked from the inside-out. This made me think of the scriptures above. It also made me ponder on the words of my friend Mr Boyd, who often quotes that, “life is an inside job”, and of course he is right, but it does not need to remain ‘just’ an inside job, for it must also come to the outside, for if it doesn’t we have not completed the cycle. The cycle that Paul speaks of when he says, “First, the natural then the spiritual”. That is the correct order. Yet in my flesh, shall I see God. That which is within in me, will and must manifest itself without, or on the outside of me. What I mean is for example; when Jesus saw the man with the withered arm, Jesus saw the man whole, even before he spoke a word to him. That’s the inside bit. And Jesus could have walked on by inwardly knowing that this man had two perfectly good arms, (in spirit), but Jesus didn’t leave it there. He said, “Stretch your arm out”. The man did as he was told, and ‘voila’, here the inside was bought to the outside. The man now has two good arms instead of just one. Wonderful story and we might think a wonderful miracle. But here is hidden a wonderful picture, that the Lord paints for us regarding the inside and the outside.
Meanwhile, back to the popcorn. I trust that you’ve all eaten popcorn, and I know that there are many who have popped their own ‘popcorn’. For those that have done this you will know, that to try and eat that little popcorn in its raw state, ‘prior to its popping’, is courting disaster, a lost filling at least or a broken tooth at worst. This little dude, is mean. It is hard, rock hard, and is of no use whatsoever to eat in this state. It has to be exposed to the ‘heat’. It has to be exposed to great heat in fact. Don’t be fearful of the ‘lake of fire’, when God throws you in it. This is God’s very own fire, and a great purger and purifier. Despise not the chastening of the Lord, we are told, but rather embrace it and give thanks, for the ‘pain’ of this (His) heat. For, this is the very heat that God himself is going to use to exchange that ‘heart of stone’, that rock hard little popcorn, into a ‘heart of flesh’, to that gentle, meek, and loving person that He himself will cause you to be, so you need not wrestle with the ‘fire’. When the little popcorn is exposed to the great heat, it ‘pops’. It kinda dies to its former existence, and is renewed, transformed, reborn etc, into that which is now ready for eating. “Unless you eat ME you cannot have my Life”, Jesus said. “Unless a ‘seed’ fall into the ground and dies, it cannot bring forth fruit”, Jesus also says. Well, He is most palatable to us isn’t He? That is to us (those), who like King David have ‘tasted’ how good the Lord is. Love that word ‘tasted’. Taste ME, and see how ‘good’ I am. How palatable I am. I’m ready to be eaten; I have been ‘popped’. The process took three days, but for you my darling human race, it was worth ‘the popping’. Now you too must be popped, but fear not I am always with you, even when you are in the fire, there will be another there with you, like there was with Daniel, when he was being ‘popped’.
Yet in my ‘flesh’, shall I see God. I will, I will, I know I will. Search me oh Lord, and ‘pop’ me oh Lord, that when I ‘see’ you, I will be ‘like’ YOU.
